What We Made in 2015!

Looking back on the year is always a fun thing to do on New Year's Eve. Now there are numerous ways to gather up all your "best of" photos from social media and to display them for everyone to see.

One site that is very popular this year is 2015 Best Nine. This site takes your nine best pictures from Instagram and puts them into a photo collage for you! Here is our #2015BestNine from Instagram!

UFO Resolution Challenge

We all have them... UFOs (unfinished objects)

But 2016 is going to be the year to finish some of them!

And we're all going to do it together!

We have created a UFO Challenge to help you finish some of your unfinished objects. Here's how it will work:

1. Download the free printable challenge sheet here & print it out.

2. Fill in one of your unfinished projects on each line of the first column.

3. Check back on the first Monday of each month to see which number we draw for the month. This will correspond with the numbers 1-12 on your printable and that will be the project to finish for the month!

4. At the end of each month post a picture of your (hopefully) finished project to one of our social media sites or email it to us at info@ascarletthread.com.

So why should you participate? We will feature some of your projects for everyone to see and you will have more shelf space! Also, there may be some giveaways and prizes! It's a win, win, win!

Winter Solstice

Happy Winter Solstice Day!

Even though most people don't even know what Winter Solstice is, we're dedicating a blog post to this day to tell you all about it!

Winter solstice is an astronomical phenomenon marking the shortest day and the longest night of the year. The winter solstice itself lasts only a moment in time, so other terms are used for the day on which it occurs, such as "midwinter", or the "shortest day". It is often considered the "extreme of winter," although not here in Georgia where its in the 60's and 70's! Many cultures have special celebrations or other ways of memorializing this day.

As our way of celebrating, we're highlighting this Cozy Quilt Pattern called Winter Solstice! This pattern is specifically designed for 2 1/2 inch strips and can be made in multiple sizes. "In classic Cozy style, the pattern is easy and intricate. Use strips to make your flower block, and then by adding two simple star points to the corner, the blocks come together in a bright burst that lights up the shortest day of the year, winter solstice!"
